Fernando vive más, que no se olvida
la virtud, que en la fama se convierte,
y nuestro amparo de su diestra fuerte,
se asegura mejor en la partida.

Que viendo la fortuna reducida
a tantos trances de contraria suerte,
clemencia fue la que otorgó su muerte,
no fue rigor el que negó su vida.

Y como con victorias no previno,
siendo tantas, el hado necesario,
al estrago fatal de las Españas.

Por su elección, que anticipó el destino,
quiso subirle al cielo voluntario
a volver con milagros las hazañas.
