Publish in TextGrid Repository

The TextGrid Repository specialises in TEI files and images, offering many advantages to projects. Publication in the TGR is free for any project worldwide.

In order to achieve this, we require your text files to be encoded in any version of TEI. Additionally, we need some metadata, which can either be included in your TEI files or supplied during the publication process. The following fields are mandatory for each text file, as well as some information about the project (name of the project, information about the people involved):

  • Publication licence (e.g. CC-BY)
  • Title
  • General genre (e.g. prose, verse, non-fiction)
  • Year (or range of years) for the creation of the work

Moreover, we recommend publishing the files with more metadata. This will make your data easier to find and better interconnected with other resources. Information we highly recommend adding includes the author's name, an author ID (e.g. through GND or Wikidata), the text's language (as ISO 639-3 code), the subject (through Basic Classification), a GND genre, and ORCID IDs for those involved in the project.

The following article provides an overview of the current publication process:

If you are interested, please send us an email to anfragen@textgrid.de with an example or two of your TEI files or a link to any platform where your data is available, such as GitHub. In the email, please provide the following information:

  • The number of TEI files you want to publish (approximately)
  • Whether you want to publish images, and if so, the approximate number
  • Whether you have finished preparing your data
  • Whether you have a deadline for the publication of your data

Please, take in consideration that the publication process can take from some days in simple cases to several months in case of very large and complex projects.
