Mirando Cloris una fuente clara,
donde otras veces afilar solía
las armas desdeñosas, con que hería,
y en vano ahora contra mí repara.
Vio como el tiempo sus mejillas ara,
en señal de castigo y rebeldía,
sembrando sal, donde el amor tenía,
para sacrificar las almas ara.
Viéndose tal con lágrimas y tierra,
enturbiaba la fuente por vengarse,
como si ella la causa hubiera sido.
Al fin, sacó este fruto de su guerra,
que vio poder las aguas aclararse,
mas no cobrarse el tiempo ya perdido.
