Sin que contraste la humildad profunda,
con que huyó de la gloria humana Diego,
hoy ve altar en su nombre, y arder fuego,
de donde grato olor a Dios redunda.
Él, que dio humilde el cuello a la coyunda,
y fue del siglo vano oprobio y juego,
vedlo gozando celestial sosiego,
y cómo de riqueza eterna abunda.
Póstranse las Coronas y Tiaras
a donde puso la desnuda planta,
y cumplen peregrinos votos sacros.
Vivo no osó tratar la santas Aras,
y muerto, Dios sobre ellas se levanta,
en eterna memoria y simulacros.
