Del sueño en el silencio sosegado,
en tan dulce quietud, Cintia yacía,
que te aseguro que temer podía
mucho más a una pulga que a un cuidado.
De esto envidioso el ciego dios alado,
midió del aire la región vacía,
y dijo que era grande picardía
el dormir yo y estar él desvelado.
Esto diciendo, armado de veneno,
un arpón me envío por la tetilla,
llegando al alma su dolor tirano.
Del temor, desperté, y hálleme bueno;
que esto de amor no es más que pesadilla,
que en despertando un hombre se halla sano.
