Copiado tu esplendor llegué a mirar,
adelantando, Cintia, el padecer;
y no pudiendo, por fingida, arder,
aun fingida la voz, pudo abrasar.

Imaginada te llegué a mirar,
no imaginando nunca merecer;
¿cómo idolatrará quien llega a ver
lo que adoró de sólo imaginar?

Toda el alma de mí se enajenó,
y a ti sin alma el alma te ofrecí,
sin albedrío mi pasión quedó;

y así, en amarte nunca te ofendí,
puesto que sin mí mismo te amé yo,
y tan atento, que era a ti sin ti.
