¿Qué domino adquirís, constelaciones,
allá en la fija luz del firmamento,
que puedan de un influjo en un aliento
nacer y respirar dos corazones?
Repitióse una vida en dos acciones,
y de dos voces se formó un aliento,
de dos almas fue sólo un movimiento,
pues también se imitaron las pasiones.
De ver prodigio igual el mar airado,
a uno anegó; pero los dos murieron,
y unidos a la playa los condujo,
como diciendo al cielo el ponto helado:
«Yo uno anegué; si entrambos fenecieron,
divídase la culpa con tu influjo.»
