De Los cigarrales de Toledo

Si el confesar la deuda pagar fuera
yo ajustara a los gastos el recibo,
por donde el alcance es excesivo,
y ninguno el caudal, aunque no hay espera.

Prendas sacó la ejecución primera
de una verdad en cuyos yerros vivo,
y no hay acción a bienes de cautivo,
que a poderos gozar, libre viviera.

Acabad vos con él, suelte la prenda,
y hasta que vos cobréis su finca aguarde,
que a fe que es abonada el alma mía.

Pero vos acreedor, yo sin hacienda,
cobraréis, mi señora, nunca o tarde,
que a esto se pone quien a pobre fía.
