- XXV - Pondera la fuerza de su amor cuando más debiera desengañarse

A tu poder amor, y a tu porfía,
los despojos inútiles entrego,
ardan también en el incendio ciego,
como el robusto corazón ardía.
Tirano el vencedor, a sangre fría,
tale los frutos que sembró el sosiego,
pues hay materia tan capaz de fuego,
cuando toda ceniza parecía.
O cuando presumiendo que acredita,
esta apariencia lisonjera infama
lo frágil del aliento que fallece.
Si en la violencia del ardor, imita,
el esfuerzo caduco de la llama,
que en el fin de la vida resplandece.
