Aunque el amor, o Lisida, podía,
en fe de ciego, persuadir errores,
no te propongo (como bien) que adores
los ídolos que sigue mi porfía.
Que guardes si la escasa valentía
para logro de méritos mayores,
y avara de otros males atesores,
culpas que apliques a la pena mía.
Que si a más de un precepto se reduce
la ley, y en los que pródiga dispensas
menos sencilla, y regular te mueves.
Fiel es la persuasión, cuando te induce
no a cometer, a conmutar ofensas,
por las más disculpadas, y más leves.
