Alma, no puede ser, está cautiva,
a redimirte en vano te dispones,
que importará que limes las prisiones,
si has de quedar esclava, y fugitiva.
No en la cadena, por dureza esquiva,
admiración, ni lástima propones,
que de la fuerza de tus eslabones
no hay libertad, que sin envidia viva.
Forjóles el amor de la belleza,
en que mezcló el cariño y el recato
la discreción, la gala, talle y brío.
No será que se gaste tu fineza,
ni se podrá romper, que con el trato,
ha perdido la fuerza el albedrío.
