Leyes al escarmiento se establecen
en esta tabla, Licio, construida
al ocio de las musas, redimida
del mar cuyas tormentas se fenecen.
En breves descripciones le parecen
ruinas de la edad envejecida,
confusiones y ejemplos a la vida
en la pintura y el cristal se ofrecen.
Aquí ya defendido a la violencia,
del poder excusado a las porfías,
de la ignorancia logro desengaños,
y a tanto cuanto pudo la experiencia,
un rato río los sobrados días,
otro lamento los perdidos años.
