- LXXVIII - Hace memoria y de la parte en que tuvo principio su amor

Este es el Templo, Filis, y este el día,
en que ya tu poder, o ya tu ruego,
obró el milagro de quitar a un ciego
la tiniebla de ausencia, en que vivía.
Aquí vio tu hermosura mi osadía,
aquí entregó a las llamas el sosiego,
y le hospedó tan apacible el fuego,
que se alumbraba el alma, y no se ardía.
Y pareció piedad de la belleza
entonces, que a sus llamas entregado,
no quedarse en cenizas convertido.
Y fue traza cruel de su aspereza,
por hacer el castigo más pesado,
no matarme de amor, sino de olvido.
