Ero, a quien mil cuidados combatían
ni jamás sobresaltos la dejaban,
temerosas sospechas la espantaban,
pensamientos de amor la entristecían.
Las altas ondas nuevas le traían
de cómo a su Leandro maltrataban,
y los furiosos vientos derribaban
la seña y luz que sus manos ponían.
Con gran temblor, y semejante pena
a la orilla del mar en la mañana
su Leandro vio tendido en el arena.
De vivir más, perdió luego la gana,
helósele la sangre en cada vena,
y en un punto se echó por la ventana.
