Temor celoso el alma me desvía,
fatígame y revuélveme conmigo;
mas, ¿para qué ser yo tan enemigo
de aquel que en las entrañas Amor cría?
Muero en sufrir su triste compañía;
sólo por él, yo mismo me persigo;
¿Por qué con todo, si amo, me fatigo,
con quién amar me hace noche y día?
Hiela el deseo al tiempo que más ardo;
antes más ardo, si por el me rijo;
más me esfuerzo por él, que me acobardo.
En fin, él me embaraza, y de él me guardo;
no puede ser, que del Amor es hijo:
es hijo del Amor, mas es bastardo.
