Dicen que amor se pierde en el ausente,
o a lo menos en parte se resfría;
yo lo creí ya esto en algún día,
cuando mi mal no estaba tan ardiente.
Ahora tal mi corazón se siente,
que el tiempo, ni el lugar, ni el alma mía,
jamás harán que en mí mi fantasía
ausente no esté tal, como presente.
Aún digo más: que alguna diferencia
si hubiere en mí, será sentir mi fuego
mucho mayor al tiempo de la ausencia.
Porque el ver y el hablar me dan sosiego,
o me templa el temor en la presencia,
tanto, que alguna vez de ella reniego.
