Si de alguna taberna en los tapices
visteis al Cid sin calza o pedorrera,
si al moro Abindarráez de Antequera
sin marlota, turbante ni terlices;

si visteis a Catón con más narices
colgado de un figón en la espetera,
visteis, Cintia, la efigie verdadera
de mi cara, colores y matices.

Demás de esto soy tonto un tanto cuanto
y tan puerco, que puedo ser poeta;
y hay, con todo esto, quien por mí se muere.

De insulso, a nadie quiero, sin ser santo;
siendo yo tal, juzgad como discreta
qué tal debe de ser la que me quiere.
